Becoming a Full Member

Full membership in PEN USA is open to professional writers, journalists, editors and translators who have a professionally published body of work.

Anyone interested in becoming a Full member must submit an application in addition to a résumé of published work and the Full membership fee of $79. The membership committee meets to determine whether the writer is eligible for Full membership. Applications are accepted throughout the year.

Becoming an Associate or Student Member

Associate and Student memberships are open to anyone who supports the work of PEN USA.

Anyone interested in becoming an Associate member or a Student member must only fill out an application with current contact information, as well as the annual membership fee of. Associate membership dues are $50 annually. Students currently enrolled in classes at any institution receive a significant discount in membership dues, and are required to pay only $25 a year.
